Prep recipes are created from the Prep page. Each prep recipe is based on a source recipe from R365. Source recipes are existing recipe items created in R365.
After a prep recipe is added, it must be opened and edited to be configured for prep. Configuration includes completing the General Information fields—such as prep category, prep station, and shelf life—and setting the recipe’s Prep Calculation Logic to define values used to calculate the suggested prep amount. The prep recipe can also be added to prep templates from the record.
Creating prep recipes ensures that each ingredient or prepared component is properly tracked, organized, and included in prep sheets across assigned locations. Once a prep recipe is created, it can be used within Prep.
After creation, prep recipes can be edited at any time to adjust settings as needed.
Prep recipe visibility is location-based. A location can only see a prep recipe on its prep sheets if it has access to that recipe and the recipe is assigned to one of its available prep templates.

These permissions can be added to custom user roles or individual users. The Permission Access report can be used to determine which user roles or users already have these permissions assigned. For more information, see User Setup and Security.

Edit a Prep Recipe
Once a prep recipe is created, it must be edited so that its prep settings can be configured. A prep recipe’s settings determine how the recipe is categorized, counted, and tracked. Prep recipes can be edited any time to make adjustments, if necessary.
Prep recipes can be edited in bulk using the action bar or individually from the prep recipe record.
To best track prep recipes throughout the prep process, when editing, ensure the following are entered and accurate:
Name
Available to Prep
The Available to Prep checkbox determines whether the recipe is active in Prep. When this is unchecked, the recipe is unavailable for use. It will not be enabled on the prep templates it is associated with, so it will not appear on prep sheets.
Prep Category
