Prep recipes can be activated or deactivated in Prep to control their availability across prep templates and locations.
When a prep recipe is activated, it is available for selection throughout Prep and can be added to prep templates. When a prep recipe is deactivated, it is unavailable for selection and is automatically deactivated on all prep templates it is part of.
Activation can occur at two levels:
Full activation – Enables or disables a prep recipe across all prep templates. All-template availability is controlled by the Available to Prep checkbox on the Settings tab of the prep recipe record, which appears as the Available toggle on the Prep Recipes grid (individually or in bulk). When it is off, the prep recipe is unavailable to prep on every prep template.
Prep Template-level activation – Enables or disables a prep recipe on a specific prep template without affecting its status elsewhere. Template-level availability is controlled by the Active on Template toggle on the Prep Templates On tab of the prep recipe record, which appears as the Is Active toggle inside the prep template itself. It only applies when Available to Prep is on, and it is useful for temporarily deactivating a recipe on one template, such as a seasonal item or an item on recall, without changing its availability everywhere else.
Use these options to control where prep recipes are active and available to prep, whether fully across Prep or within individual templates.

Activate / Deactivate Prep Recipe Across All Prep Templates
A prep recipe can be activated or deactivated across all prep templates from the Settings tab or from the Prep Recipes grid in bulk or individually. This setting determines whether the prep recipe is available for selection across all prep templates.
From the Prep Recipe Record (All Templates)

1) From the Prep page, open the prep recipe record for the recipe that needs to be activated/deactivated.
To do this:
Open the Inventory application.
Expand Prep.
Select Prep Sheets.
Navigate to the Prep Recipes tab.
Click the name of a prep recipe.
2) Select or clear the Available to Prep checkbox on the Settings tab.
When the prep recipe is activated, the Available to Prep checkbox is selected, the prep recipe can be added to prep templates, and it is available on all associated prep templates.
When the prep recipe is deactivated, the Available to Prep checkbox is cleared, and the prep recipe is unavailable to add to prep templates. It is also deactivated on any prep templates it is on at the time of deactivation.
From the Prep Recipe Grid
Prep recipes can be activated or deactivated individually or in bulk using the Available column toggle.
When the prep recipe is activated, the Available toggle is on, the prep recipe can be added to prep templates, and it is available on the prep templates it is already assigned to.
When the prep recipe is deactivated, the Available toggle is off, and the prep recipe is unavailable to add to prep templates. It is also deactivated on any prep templates it is on at the time of deactivation.
Activate / Deactivate One Prep Recipe
To activate or deactivate one prep recipe from the grid:
Locate the prep recipe on the list.
From the Available column, switch the Available toggle on or off.
Activate / Deactivate Prep Recipes in Bulk
To activate or deactivate multiple prep recipes at one time from the grid:
Locate the prep recipes on the list.
Click the checkboxes of the recipes to select the recipes.
From the action bar, click the toggle button.
Select whether to Make available (activate) or Make unavailable (deactivate).

Activate / Deactivate a Prep Recipe on a Prep Template
Prep recipes can be activated and deactivated on a single specific prep template. When a prep recipe is activated or deactivated on a single prep template, the activation status will only apply to that prep template, and it will not affect the recipe’s activation status on any other template.
A prep recipe can be activated or deactivated on a prep template from the prep recipe record or from the prep template itself.
From the Prep Recipe Record (Single Template)

1) From the Prep page, open the prep recipe record for the recipe that needs to be activated/deactivated.
To do this:
Open the Inventory application.
Expand Prep.
Select Prep Sheets.
Navigate to the Prep Recipes tab.
Click the name of a prep recipe.
2) Navigate to the Prep Templates On tab.
3) Locate the prep template that the recipe needs to be activated/deactivated on.
4) Toggle on or off the Active on Template toggle.
When the Active on Template toggle is on, the recipe is activated on the selected prep template and its associated locations.
When the Active on Template toggle is off, the recipe is deactivated on the selected prep template and its associated locations. It is unavailable to prep for the locations associated with the prep template.
From a Prep Template

1) From the Prep Templates tab of the Prep Settings page, open the prep template that has the recipe that needs to be activated/deactivated.
To do this:
Open the Inventory application.
Expand Prep.
Select Prep Sheets.
Click the gear button.
Open the Prep Templates tab.
2) On the General Info screen, click Continue to move to the Add Recipes screen.
3) On the Add Recipes screen, locate the prep recipe that needs to be activated or deactivated on the prep template.
4) Toggle on or off the Is Active toggle.
The Is Active column may appear in a different position than shown in the image below.
When the Is Active toggle is on, the recipe will be activated on the open prep template and available to prep at the prep template’s associated locations. If a location has access to the recipe, the prep recipe will appear on future prep sheets.
When the Is Active toggle is off, the recipe will be deactivated on the selected prep template and unavailable for prep at the prep template’s associated locations. The prep recipe will not appear on prep sheets.
5) Once complete, close the prep template.
