Sort a Table

Prev Next

Throughout R365, tables can be sorted by one or more columns. The system applies sorting immediately, and sorted tables can be saved as table views.

This article covers sorting on tables with the new R365 table design. Refer to the Working With Smart Grids article for sorting on legacy tables, or the Working with Classic List Views article for sorting on classic list views.

Important note about clicking a different column

Clicking a column header clears any sort currently applied to other columns. It then sorts the table only by that column.

Learn how to sort by more than one column below.

Hovering over a column header displays a tooltip. The tooltip shows the action the next click performs: Sort Ascending, Sort Descending, or Unsort.

Sort By One Column

Follow these steps to sort a table by a single column:

Click steps to expand for additional information and images.

1) Click a column header.

Sorts the table in ascending order by that column.

2) Click the same column header again.

Sorts the table in descending order by that column.

3) Click the same column header a third time.

Removes the sort from that column.

Sort By More Than One Column

Follow these steps to sort a table by more than one column:

Click steps to expand for additional information and images.

1) Click a column header to set the primary sort.

Click again to change the direction. Click a third time to remove the sort, as described in Sort by one column above.

2) Hold Shift and click an additional column header.

Adds that column to the sort as a secondary sort. This does not clear the sort already applied to the first column.

3) Hold Shift and click the same column header again.

Changes that column's sort direction. A third Shift+click removes it from the sort. Removing one column from a multi-column sort this way does not affect the other sorted columns.

Primary and Secondary Sorts

The first column sorted is the primary sort, and the order in which additional columns are sorted determines precedence.
