Clear and Restart an I-9

If an I-9 for an employee has been waived and needs to be cleared so that the employee can re-enter all information, the I-9 can be cleared and restarted.

I-9s can be cleared and restarted from the Work Eligibility page, Work Eligibility folder on the Documents tab of employee records, or from the I-9 document details page.

When an I-9 is cleared and restarted, the existing I-9 is marked as ‘Canceled’ and retained in the Work Eligibility folder on the Documents tab of the employee’s employee record. An additional blank I-9 is then added to the same folder.


Security

Users must have the following permission to clear and restart an I-9:

  • Labor → Work Eligibility â†’ I-9 Form → Edit I-9s


These permissions can be added to custom user roles or individual users. The Permission Access report can be used to determine which user roles or users already have these permissions assigned. For more information, see User Setup and Security.


From the Work Eligibility Page

Follow these steps to restart an I-9 from the Work Eligibility page:

1) Navigate to the Work Eligibility page.

2) Locate the desired I-9 by scrolling through the list or searching for the employee’s name.

3) Click the Action menu for the I-9.

4) Select Clear and Restart I-9.

5) Click Confirm.

A blank I-9 form will open. Complete the new I-9 on behalf of the employee, or close the I-9 form and inform the employee to complete their portion of the I-9 via My Pay.

From the Work Eligibility Folder of an Employee Record Documents Tab

Follow these steps to restart an I-9 from the Work Eligibility folder:

1) Navigate to the Documents tab of the employee’s employee record:

2) Open the Work Eligibility folder.

3) Click the Action menu for the I-9.

4) Select Clear and Restart I-9.

5) Click Confirm.

A blank I-9 form will open. Complete the new I-9 on behalf of the employee, or close the I-9 form and inform the employee to complete their portion of the I-9 via My Pay.

From the I-9 Document Details Page

Follow these steps from the I-9 document details page:

1) Open the I-9 form on the Documents tab of the employee’s employee record:

  1. Click on the Work Eligibility folder.

  2. Click on the row for the I-9.

The I-9 document details page will open.

2) Select Clear and Restart I-9.

3) Click Confirm.

A blank I-9 form will open. Complete the new I-9 on behalf of the employee, or close the I-9 form and inform the employee to complete their portion of the I-9 via My Pay.
