Resync Failed or Blocked Punches

Prev Next

When a punch fails to reach the Time Clock service, or a Time Clock rule blocks it, the punch stays visible in the Punch Action Log with a status of Failed or Blocked. You can resync these punches one at a time or all at once to resubmit them. Resyncing a Failed punch retries delivery. Resyncing a Blocked punch works like a manager override after the fact — it approves the punch and skips the Time Clock rule that originally stopped it.

A "Sent" status confirms delivery to the Timeclock service, not processing into the Timecard. If a punch shows Sent but does not appear on the Timecard, the problem is outside the Punch Action Log. Contact R365 Support for help with these issues.

The Punch Action Log is device-specific. Each Timeclock tablet stores its own log. Punches made on a different device at the same location are not visible in this device's log.

Security

To access the Punch Action Log and resync punches, the manager must have the Edit Timeclock Users permission.

This permission is located under Labor → Time Clock → Timeclock Users in the permissions tree.

The Punch Action Log is only available when the device is online. When the device is offline, the Time Clock app does not identify manager roles and hides the Punch Log sidebar item.

These permissions can be added to custom user roles or individual users. The Permission Access report can be used to determine which user roles or users already have these permissions assigned. For more information, see User Setup and Security.

Resync an individual punch

Use this procedure to resync a single Failed or Blocked punch.

  1. In the Time Clock app, tap Punch Log in the sidebar.

  1. Find the punch row with a status of Failed or Blocked.

  1. Tap the Resync icon (sync icon) on the punch row.

To see why a punch was blocked, hover over the Blocked status before resyncing.

Resyncing a Blocked punch is a manager override.

A Blocked punch was stopped by a Time Clock rule (for example, an unscheduled employee trying to clock in). Resyncing it skips that rule and sends the punch to the Time Clock service.

Review the result:

  • If resync succeeds: The row status changes from Failed or Blocked to Sent. A success notification appears at the bottom of the screen. The failure badge count goes down by one.

  • If resync fails: The punch stays in its current status (Failed or Blocked). An error notification appears at the bottom of the screen.

Resync multiple punches

Use this procedure to resync more than one Failed or Blocked punch at a time.

  1. In the Time Clock app, tap Punch Log in the sidebar.

  1. Select the punches to resync using the checkboxes on each row.

  • To select all visible punches, tap the Select All checkbox in the table header. The checkbox shows a dash (–) when only some rows are selected.

  1. Tap Resync Selected in the bulk actions bar.

The system resubmits each selected punch to the Time Clock service one at a time.

Review the result:

  • If all resyncs succeed: All selected row statuses update to Sent. A success notification appears. The selection clears automatically and the failure badge count updates.

  • If some resyncs fail: Rows that succeeded update to Sent. Rows that failed stay in their current status. A result notification appears describing what happened.

To clear the selection without resyncing, tap the X (close) button in the bulk actions bar.
