When the Require location selection on upload setting is enabled, a location must be selected for each document before the upload can be submitted. This applies to manual uploads from Documents to Process and the Create menu.
This behavior requires both AP Capture AI and the Require location selection on upload setting to be enabled. See System Preferences: Miscellaneous to confirm the setting is on.
Click a section title to expand for additional information.
1) Open the upload window by starting the upload document process.
From the Documents to Process page, click Upload Document. Alternatively, open the Create menu and select Upload File.

2) Click in the upload box to open the file explorer, or drag and drop files into the window.
Upload one or more documents at a time. Each file added to the queue must have a location assigned before the upload can be submitted.

3) Select a location for the uploaded document(s).
Use the Apply to All row to set a location for all documents at once.
Select a location from the Location dropdown in the Apply to All row. The selection applies to every document in the queue unless overridden on a per-file basis.
To assign a different location to a single specific file:
Use the Location dropdown on the individual document row. A per-file selection overrides the Apply to All location for that document only.
If the uploading user has access to only one location, that location is pre-filled automatically and cannot be changed. The location requirement is satisfied without any additional action.
When a location is assigned at upload, AP Capture AI will not override it with OCR-detected values.
The Location field will be the only required field. Additional fields (Assign to, Document type, Priority) are optional.

4) Click Upload to submit the documents.

The Upload button is always enabled. If any document is missing a location, clicking Upload does not submit the file — a "Location is required" error appears inline below the empty Location field for that document.
To resolve the error, select a location for each flagged document, then click Upload again.

5) Select Upload More Files to continue importing, or select Close to exit the window.
After a successful upload, documents appear on the Documents to Process page for review or processing.
