The Auto Answers feature in R365 Intelligence utilizes AI to provide real-time analysis of dashboards in dashboard view mode. The Auto Answers chat functions as a natural-language chatbot that interprets business questions, applies logical reasoning, and returns insights as visualizations or narrative responses based on the data in the current dashboard. This enables users to interpret and analyze their data and trends more efficiently.

When enabled, the Auto Answers chatbot is available to use in dashboard view mode. Users  type their own questions or select from suggested prompts to get started. By default, the chat’s scope is the entire page, but clicking a visualization will narrow the focus so the response is based only on that chart’s data. Users can ask follow-up questions that build on previous answers, review how Auto Answers interpreted and executed a query, and copy answers to share with other users.


Navigation

The Auto Answers feature that analyzes and interprets visualizations is available in dashboard view mode.

Open an existing dashboard in view mode. To open Auto Answers, click the Auto Dashboard button in the top right corner of the screen.

In edit mode, the same button opens Auto Dashboard, where users can prompt the AI to build dashboards. Read more about Auto Dashboards.


Enable Auto Answer

Auto Answers will automatically be enabled when the dashboard is created or edited using Auto Dashboard.

Auto Answer Support

Opens the Microstrategy support article for Auto Answers.

Clear

Clears the chat history so a new chat can be started.

Pin

Pins the chatbox to its spot on the screen. When pinned, the dashboard size will adjust so that both the Auto Answers chat and dashboard can be seen.

Close

Closes the Auto Answers chatbox.

Chat Suggestions

Suggested chat prompts to start or continue the chat with the Auto Answers bot.

The options will vary dependent on the data available on the dashboard. click the arrow button to collapse and expand the suggestions as needed.  Click the regenerate button to load new suggestions.

Question Box

The input field where prompts can be entered and submitted.

User-input text will appear on the right side of the message thread in blue boxes. The AI responses will appear on the left side of the message thread in gray boxes.

Send

Sends the typed message to the chat.


Ask Questions to Auto Answers

The auto-dashboard feature supports open-ended questions so that users can run quick queries based on the datapoints provided. The AI will use the datapoints available to deliver a comprehensive response.  

Ask the AI anything related to understanding the dashboard data, analyzing trends, forecasting metrics, summarizing dashboards, or visualizing data.

To ask the auto answers AI open-ended questions, follow these steps:

1) Open the Auto Answers bot.

2) Enter a question in the question box, and click the send button.

By default, the scope for each question will be the entire page. To ask a question about a specific visualization, click the visualization before entering in a prompt, or name the visualization when prompting the AI.

These questions should be based on the data added on the page.  

Example Questions

  • What can you tell me about menu item sales in 2024?

  • Which GL accounts had the largest ending balances last quarter?

  • What percentage of my payments are cash versus credit card?

  • What’s the trend in total tips across all locations?

  • What menu items are driving the highest net sales over the past three months?

  • What are the trends in sales over the past year?

  • Which day of the week has the highest net sales?

  • Can you create a bar chart showing gross sales by location?

  • What types of visualizations are supported?

  • What is the forecast for net sales in the next quarter?

  • Can you show the trend and forecast for guest count?

  • What factors influence gross sales the most?

  • Which attributes drive the forecasted net sales?

  • What is the total check count for the current quarter?

  • Can you list all the locations in the dataset?

R365 Recommends

When entering a prompt, the system suggests available data objects that match the entered text. Selecting a suggested data object ensures there are no typos and that the AI uses the exact object in the report. R365 recommends selecting from this list when applicable to avoid inaccuracies.

Bolded text represents a selected data object.

2)  The Auto Answer chat will deliver a comprehensive answer based on the data available. Click the Interpretation button to see the data used. Or, click the Follow Up button to use that response to ask another question.

With open-ended questions, an interpretation will be available, which details the datapoints and interpretation used to deliver its response. Hover over the response to enable the interpretation button , then click the button to view the interpretation.

Clicking the Follow Up button will move that response to the chat box as a quote, so that the next question can be asked specifically about the response.

The Copy button copies the response as an image.
