If a restaurant prepares batch recipes with multiday shelf lives, including those recipes in inventory counts gives a more accurate cost of goods sold (COGS) because the ingredients remain in inventory until sold.
To ensure that a recipe is available for inventory, complete the following steps:

1) Create a recipe in R365, or open an existing recipe.
Open the Inventory application.
Expand Recipes.
Select Recipes
Click Create to create a new recipe.

Click a recipe entry to open a existing recipe.

2) Mark the recipe as Available in Inventory.
On the new recipe record, this toggle is in the Settings’ Recipe Configurations section.

On the classic recipe record, this checkbox is on the General tab.

3) Update the recipe’s inventory settings.
When Available in Inventory is enabled on a recipe, this will open an additional inventory section/tab on the record. It requires the configuration of the following:
Inventory UofM
Cost Account
Inventory Account
On the new recipe record, this is the Inventory Cost section.

On the classic recipe record, this is the Inventory Cost tab.

4) Save the recipe.


4) Add the Recipe as an Item on an inventory count or inventory template for recurring use.
