Learn more about the Bank Activity update.
Direct bank connections support accounts with multi-factor authentication (MFA). An MFA account may require re-authentication each time activity is retrieved.
Other Names for MFA
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) may also be referred to by other names, including:
OTP (one-time password)
2-step
2-factor
Second authentication
Token authentication (not currently supported)
Determine if MFA is Enabled
Login to the Financial Institution
To determine if a financial institution uses MFA, attempt to login directly to the institution’s online portal. After credentials are entered, an additional security step —such as a one time code or security questions — will indicate that MFA is enabled.
Attempt to Retrieve Activity
If the Retrieve activity option on the Bank Activity page does not return any results, reauthentication may be required. When MFA is enabled, automatic retrieval pauses until the connection is re-authenticated.
