Menu items can be created directly in R365. Manual menu item creation enables users to add and manage items that have not been imported.
Menu items can be created three different ways in R365:
Using the Create button on the Menu Item page.
From the Point of Sale Item page.
From the Point of Sale Item record.
After creation, menu items can be opened and edited at any time.
Security
Users must have the following permission(s) to create and edit menu items:
Food → Menu Items→
View Menu Items
Edit Menu Items
Create Menu Items
These permissions can be added to custom user roles or individual users. The Permission Access report can be used to determine which user roles or users already have these permissions assigned. For more information, see User Setup and Security.
Create a Menu Item
Menu Item Page
To create a single menu item from the menu item page, follow these steps:

1) Open the Menu Item page.
Open the Sales & Forecasting application.
Expand Menu Items.
Click Menu Items.

2) Click Create.

This will open a blank menu item record.
3) Complete the necessary fields on the menu item record.
The following field is required to save the record:
Name
All other fields and recipe linking are optional. Read more about the menu item record.

4) Save the record.

Point of Sale Item Page
One or multiple menu items can be created from POS items from the POS item page. To create menu items from the POS items page, follow these steps:
Click steps to expand for additional information and images.
1) Open the Point of Sale Items page.
Open the Sales & Forecasting application.
Expand Menu Items.
Select Point of Sale Items.

2) Select the POS items to create menu items from. To select, click the checkbox.

3) Making selections will open the bulk action menu.

4) From the bulk action menu, click the link button.

5) A menu item will be created for each POS item selected with the POS item(s) automatically linked to the menu item.

Edit the Menu Item Record
6) Navigate to the Menu Items page.
Open the Sales & Forecasting application.
Expand Menu Items.
Click Menu Items.

7) Locate the menu item(s) that were just created, and click an entry to open the record.

8) Complete any additional necessary fields on the menu item record.

9) Save the record.

Point of Sale Item Record
A single menu item can be created from the menu item dropdown on the POS item record. To create a menu item from the POS item record, follow these steps:
Click steps to expand for additional information and images.
1) Open the Point of Sale Items page.
Open the Sales & Forecasting application.
Expand Menu Items.
Select Point of Sale Items.

2) Open a POS item record by clicking a record from the list.

3) Click the menu item field.

4) From the dropdown, click Create Menu Item.

5) A menu item will be created from the selected POS item. The menu item and POS item will automatically be linked.
If necessary, the system will override any existing links.

Edit the Menu Item Record
6) Navigate to the Menu Items page.
Open the Sales & Forecasting application.
Expand Menu Items.
Click Menu Items.

7) Locate the menu item that was just created, and click the entry to open the record.

8) Complete any additional necessary fields on the menu item record.

9) Save the record.
