Predictability Record

The Predictability record defines the minimum number of days before a scheduled week begins by which the week's schedule must be published for one or more locations. It is created from the Labor Rules page. Learn more about creating a labor rule or configuring a predictability rule.

Predictability Tiers

Field

Description

1

Notice window range

The lower and upper bound of this tier's notice window, entered as a number paired with an hours/minutes unit dropdown (for example, 24 to 0 hours before week start). Defines how far out from the shift start this tier applies.

2

Penalty Type

Defines the type of penalty. Types include:

  • Shift added

  • Shift extended

  • Shift time changed

  • Shift shortened

  • Shift canceled

Hovering over the information icon indicates what must occur to trigger the penalty.

3

Formula

Determines how the penalty is calculated. Fixed hours and Fixed dollar are available for every schedule change type. Shift hours reduced and Shift cancelled offer two additional options: Multiplier and Lesser of.

4

Hours / $ Amount / Multiplier / Max hours

The value used to calculate the penalty. The field's label and input change based on the selected Formula: Hours for Fixed hours, $ Amount for Fixed dollar, Multiplier for Multiplier, or Max hours for Lesser of.

A pay summary beside the field reflects the selection — for example, "Pay = [X] hour(s) at regular rate," "Pay = [X]x rate x scheduled hours," or "Pay = lesser of [X] hrs or cancelled hrs."

5

Add condition

Adds an additional IF/THEN condition to the penalty formula for that schedule change type — for example, IF Shift length is [less than or equal to] [Hours] THEN (→) pay [Hours] at regular rate.

Multiple conditions can be added as long as they do not use the same operator and shift length.

6

Delete

Deletes the penalty tier.

A calculated penalty is not final until the affected employee acknowledges the shift change in the mobile app, or the pay period closes with the change still unacknowledged. Once resolved, the penalty amount appears on the employee's timecard and on the Predictability Acknowledgement Report. See How Predictability Pay Penalties Are Calculated for the full acknowledgment lifecycle.
