Parent jobs group location-level jobs from multiple locations so that they can be treated as a single job when configuring labor matrix groups. Each parent job can contain only one job per location.
Labor matrix settings applied to a parent job are used to forecast labor for all assigned location-level jobs. A job must be assigned to a parent job to be included in a labor matrix group.
Parent jobs are created and edited on the Parent Jobs screen, which is accessible from the Job Settings page or when managing parent jobs assigned to a job.
Location-level jobs can be assigned to parent jobs on the Jobs page, directly on the associated job record, or in the labor matrix group.

Labor Matrix Groups
A labor matrix group is a labor matrix shared across multiple locations. Labor matrix settings applied to a parent job are used to forecast labor for all assigned location-level jobs.
When configuring labor matrix groups, users can:
Assign parent jobs as variable or fixed labor
Define variable labor thresholds for each parent job

On the Jobs page, users can:
View the parent job assigned to location-level jobs
Assign or unassign parent jobs using bulk edit
Navigate to the Parent Jobs screen
Job Records
Job records include the parent job setting for the associated location-level job. A parent job can be added, removed, or changed directly from the job record. Only one job per location can be assigned to each parent job, and a job must be assigned to a parent job to be included in labor matrix groups.
On job records, users can:
View the parent job assigned to the location-level job
Assign, unassign, or change the assigned parent job

FAQ
What happens to a location-level job that isn't assigned to a parent job?
A location-level job that isn't assigned to a parent job is excluded from labor matrix groups, since labor matrix settings applied to a parent job only forecast labor for that parent job's assigned location-level jobs. Assigning the job to a parent job — from the Jobs page, the job record, or the labor matrix group — includes it in that forecasting. See Multi-Location Labor Matrix.
What permission is required to create or edit a parent job?
Creating a parent job requires the Labor → Jobs → Edit Jobs permission, assignable to a custom user role or an individual user. This article doesn't list permission requirements directly; see Create a Parent Job for the full security section.
Does it matter which screen is used to assign a job to a parent job?
No. Location-level jobs can be assigned to parent jobs from the Jobs page, directly on the job record, or in the labor matrix group, and each updates the same underlying assignment. Users typically pick whichever screen they're already working in. See Jobs Page.
Is the parent jobs feature available to all customers?
No. Parent jobs are currently in beta and available only to select customers. Customers who don't see the Parent Jobs screen or the Parent Job field should contact their CSM for access. [LINK NEEDED: parent jobs beta availability]
No. Each parent job can only be mapped to one location job per location — it's a one-to-one relationship. If you try to assign a second location job to a parent job that's already mapped, you'll see an error and a toast message: "A parent job has already been defined for [Job Name]." Pick a different parent job, or unassign the existing mapping first if it needs to change.
