Journal Entry Update 2025

Prev Next

This article covers the differences between the classic journal entry and the new journal entry experience. The new journal entry experience will be enabled for all customers in 2025.

When the new journal entry experience is enabled, an option in the action menu allows users to switch between the new navigation and classic navigation. This flexibility helps users adapt to the updated experience before it becomes permanent.

These changes apply to both the payroll journal entry and standard journal entry record.

From Classic to New

Streamlined Look and Updated Action Menu

The Journal Entry record has been refreshed with an updated style and layout while maintaining all the functionality of the classic version. The action menu is now located in the top-right corner and includes the same options previously available.

New Statistical Tab

Journal entries now include a ‘Statistical’ tab where statistical only entries are entered and displayed. This separation helps distinguish non-financial information that does not post to the general ledger.

When a journal entry contains only statistical entries, the Statistical tab is the sole tab displayed.

Only statistical GL (general ledger) accounts are available for selection in the Statistical tab.

New Attachments Tab

Attachments have moved to their own Attachments tab. From this tab, users can view existing attachments, upload attachments, or open the split view to view a side-by-side of the journal entry record and the attachment previewer.

Activity Feed

Journal entries now include an Activity Feed. The activity feed displays a history of actions performed on the journal entry and allows users to add notes using the comment field. When commenting, users have the option to tag users to notify the user of the comment.

Collapsible Header

An option to collapse the header has been added to the journal entry record, so users have more space to enter and view the details lines of the journal entry.
