# Spread of Hours Record

The Spread of Hours rule defines how the system calculates additional pay when an employee’s workday spans more than a configured number of hours. The rule evaluates the time between an employee’s first clock-in and last clock-out and applies extra compensation when the daily threshold is exceeded.

From this page, users can:

- Configure the daily hour threshold that triggers spread of hours pay
- Set the minimum wage used to calculate the additional hour of pay
- Enable automatic calculation of spread of hours pay during payroll processing

## Security

Users must have the following permission to access Spread of Hours record:

- Labor → Labor Rules → Spread of Hours Rules → View Spread of Hours record

These permissions can be added to [custom user roles](https://restaurant365.us.document360.io/doc/docs/custom-user-roles) or [individual users](https://restaurant365.us.document360.io/doc/docs/users-overview-and-security). The [Permission Access report](https://restaurant365.us.document360.io/doc/docs/generating-a-permissions-access-report) can be used to determine which user roles or users already have these permissions assigned. 1. Select **Admin** from the left navigation rail.
2. Expand the **Workforce** category.
3. Select **Labor rules**.

Navigate to pages with the [R365 global search bar](/doc/docs/r365-search):

1. Enter all or part of the **page name** in the R365 global search bar.
2. Select the page from the results list.

> Only enabled pages can be searched for. If the desired page is not enabled, contact your CSM for assistance.

| **1** | New spread of hours rule | Displays the page title for creating a new spread of hours labor rule. |
| **2** | Cancel | Discards changes and exits the rule creation screen. |
| **3** | Create | Saves the rule and creates the spread of hours rule record. All required fields must be complete for create to be enabled. |
| **4** | Close | Closes the rule creation screen without saving changes. |
| **5** | Section navigation | Indicates the currently displayed section. Click to navigate to the desired section. |
| **6** | Name | Stores the name of the spread of hours rule. |
| **7** | Locations | Specifies the locations where the rule applies. |
| **8** | Daily hour threshold | Defines the daily hour limit that triggers spread of hours pay. |
| **9** | Minimum wage | Defines the minimum hourly wage used to calculate spread of hours pay. |
