# Handling Inactive Users in Report Subscriptions

When a user who owns a [report subscription](/doc/docs/report-subscriptions) is deactivated, the subscription must be reassigned to a new owner or deleted. If a report subscription remains assigned to an inactive user, it will generate an error and will not be sent.

When [a user that is an owner of a Report Subscription is being deactivated](/doc/docs/deactivate-or-delete-a-user#deactivate-a-user), the Report Subscription must be deleted or changed to a new owner. If a Report Subscription is owned by an Inactive User, the Report will receive an error and will not send.

| 1 | Status | Displays the current status of the report subscription as 'Active' or 'Inactive'. |
| 2 | Subscription Name | The name of the report subscription. |
| 3 | Report | The report generated for the subscription. |
| 4 | Recipients | Lists all users who receive the report subscription. |
| 5 | Last Sent | Shows the date and time the report was last sent. |
| 6 | Delete | Removes the report subscription effective immediately. |
| 7 | Change Owner | Opens a dropdown of new report subscription owners. > [!NOTE] > When a new owner is selected, the report is generated from the new owner's account. |
| 8 | Submit Changes | Finalizes the selections made. > [!NOTE] > This option is only available when all required selections have been made. |

## Deactivating Users that Own Report Subscriptions

When someone that is a Report Subscription Owner is [marked as inactive](/doc/docs/deactivate-or-delete-a-user), the system will prompt a notification about the subscription ownership. Changes must be made to the Report Subscription before continuing.

When prompted, elect whether to **delete** or **change the owner** of the report subscription.
