The app is **tablet-supported**, so it can be installed, updated, and used on larger screen devices with the familiar phone-style layout. On **Apple** devices (including iPads), the app can be distributed through **Apple Business Manager (ABM)** and assigned to managed devices via your MDM. On **Android** tablets and devices, the app can be deployed through your MDM solution using standard **managed Google Play** or app configuration options. Because tablets use the same layout as phones, they can be used confidently for shared or stationary workflows, such as: - Back-of-house inventory and production prep - Manager desk tablets for schedules, timecards, and high-level KPIs - Other restaurant workflows where a larger screen is helpful --- ## Prerequisites Before deploying the app, confirm the following: ****Supported devices**** - All devices meet the [minimum system requirements](/doc/docs/r365-mobile-app#app-store) to run the R365 app. - The selected iPhones/iPads can be targeted through ABM and your MDM. - The selected Android devices meet your MDM and Google Play requirements (no blocking device capability flags). ****Network access**** The selected devices can reach your **R365 instance URL**. Learn about how to [find your R365 instance](/doc/docs/r365-instance). --- ## Deploy the R365 App to an iPhone/iPad (Apple Business Manager + MDM) Follow these steps with your MDM solution: ****1. Add the R365 Mobile App in Apple Business Manager**** 1. Sign in to **Apple Business Manager**. 2. Go to **Apps and Books**. 3. Search for **Restaurant365** and select the app. ****2. Assign the app to your MDM server**** 1. From the app details in Apple Business Manager, assign the app to the correct **MDM server / location**. 2. Ensure there are enough **licenses** allocated. 3. **Sync** apps and licenses into your MDM so the R365 app appears in the MDM app list. ****3. Create or update the iPad deployment profile**** In the MDM: 1. Create a new **app deployment policy / profile** for the R365 app, or edit an existing one. 2. Scope the profile to your **iPad or device group** (for example, BOH iPads or manager iPads). 3. Recommended settings: - **Install automatically** on assigned devices (rather than “available in catalog only”). - Allow the app to be **managed** so it can be removed or reassigned through MDM. ****4. Assign the profile to iPads**** Assign the profile to the appropriate: 1. Device groups (for example, “All BOH iPads”). 2. Locations or organizational units, depending on your MDM model. > [!NOTE] > Assign a local test device to the deployment group to confirm the app is automatically installed or added to the managed app catalog as expected. --- ## Deploy the R365 App to Android Phones/Tablets (MDM) Follow these steps with your MDM provider: ****1. Add the app from Google Play to your app catalog**** 1. Open your **MDM admin console**. 2. Integrate with **Managed Google Play**, if not already configured. 3. Search Managed Google Play for **Restaurant365**. 4. Approve the app so it is available as a **managed app** in your environment. ****2. Create an Android deployment policy**** 1. In your MDM, create a new **Android app deployment policy** (or app configuration) for the R365 app. 2. Scope the policy to your **Android device group**. 3. Recommended settings: - **Automatic install** on enrolled devices. - Prevent users from uninstalling the managed app. - Apply any standard device restrictions or compliance rules used for other corporate apps. ****3. Assign the policy to Android devices**** Target the policy to the appropriate groups or organizational units that represent your devices. The app will show as **managed** in your MDM console. > [!NOTE] > Assign a local test device to the deployment group to confirm the app is automatically installed or added to the managed app catalog as expected. --- ### FAQ #### What does “tablet support” mean for the R365 Mobile App? “Tablet support” means you can **install, manage, and use** the R365 Mobile App on **iPads and Android tablets**, including devices deployed through your organization’s MDM or EMM tools. The app uses the **same experience you see on phones**, just scaled to the larger screen. #### Will the app look different on a tablet than on a phone? Yes, but only in size—not in structure: - Screens are still designed with a **phone layout**, so they may appear more spaced out on large displays. - You might see extra whitespace or taller layouts on wide screens, but the same buttons, fields, and actions are available. [](https://restaurant365.atlassian.net/browse/PORT-2386)[](https://restaurant365.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/RAD/pages/10197008434) #### Can I use the app in landscape on my tablet? Yes, tablets are supported in **portrait and landscape**. On phones, the app continues to be **portrait-only**. #### Are there any tablet-only features? Not at this time. The app on tablets includes the **same features and workflows** that are available on phones. #### What are good ways to use R365 on a tablet? Tablets work best in places where you want a **shared or larger-screen device**, such as: - **Back-of-house and inventory** - Running inventory counts. - Reviewing item and recipe details at prep stations. - **Manager stations and offices** - Reviewing **schedules**, **timecards**, and high-level **KPIs** from a desk or office. - **Shared restaurant tablets** - Tablets that multiple managers or leads use during a shift. #### What should I do if something doesn’t look right on a tablet? If you see issues such as screens that do not load or crash on a tablet, or pages that are cut off or clearly not usable on the larger display: 1. Take a screenshot 2. Contact [R365 Support](https://help.restaurant365.net/support/home), including: - The device type (iPad / Android tablet and model). - What page you were on, and what you were trying to do. This helps us verify and improve tablet behavior across different hardware.
