R365 re-imports deleted DSSs on the next scheduled POS poll automatically." updated: 2026-07-10T20:15:30Z published: 2026-07-10T20:15:30Z canonical: "docs.restaurant365.com/manually-delete-a-dss" stale: true --- > ## Documentation Index > Fetch the complete documentation index at: https://docs.restaurant365.com/llms.txt > Use this file to discover all available pages before exploring further. # Manually Delete a DSS Deleting a daily sales summary (DSS) is a troubleshooting step that triggers a repoll of data from the point of sale (POS). Since this action cannot be undone, it’s important to review all [important notes and warnings](/doc/docs/manually-delete-a-dss#important-notes-warnings) before proceeding. > [!NOTE] > If the DSS Labor section shows an error with a **Retry Calculations** button, try retrying the calculation before deleting the DSS — Retry Calculations does not delete any data. See [DSS Labor Recovery: Retry Calculations]([PASTE URL — DSS Labor Recovery: Retry Calculations]) for guidance on when to retry vs. repoll. ### Repolling Data When changes are made within the POS to correct missing or inaccurate data, the DSS must be repolled in order to transfer the updated data to R365. If the affected DSS is less than 30 days old, the fastest way to trigger a repoll is to [delete the DSS](/doc/docs/manually-delete-a-dss) record from the [Daily Sales Summary (Classic)](/doc/docs/daily-sales-summary) page. R365 regularly checks for missing DSS dates, and a deleted DSS will automatically repoll with the most current POS data within about 30 minutes. For DSS older than 30 days, please [contact R365 Support](https://help.restaurant365.net/en/support/home#contact) to assist with repolling the data. --- ## Security To manually delete a DSS file, a User must have the following Permission: - Sales & Cash → Daily Sales → Delete Daily Sales These permissions can be added to [custom user roles](https://restaurant365.us.document360.io/doc/docs/custom-user-roles) or [individual users](https://restaurant365.us.document360.io/doc/docs/users-overview-and-security). The [Permission Access report](https://restaurant365.us.document360.io/doc/docs/generating-a-permissions-access-report) can be used to determine which user roles or users already have these permissions assigned. For more information, see [User Setup and Security](/doc/docs/user-setup-security-and-location-access). --- ## **Important Notes / Warnings** Depending on the POS System and date range of DSSs being deleted, the recovery and re-import of DSS data may not be possible. Data retention is set at the POS level and R365 does not have the ability to define the data retention in the respective POS Systems. > [!WARNING] > Deleting a DSS is permanent and cannot be undone. The deletion process can take several minutes. After clicking 'Delete Selected', do not refresh the page or hit the refresh arrows on the table. Many records are being deleted during the DSS deletion process (DSS, Comments, Labor Accruals, Sales Tickets, and Journal Entries). > [!NOTE] > Manually deleting a DSS to repoll data **will not** retain any adjustments or prior changes made to the daily sales summary. --- ## Delete Daily Sales Summaries Follow these steps to delete a daily sales summary: *Click steps to expand for additional information and images.* ****1)** In the **Sales & Forecasting** application, under Daily Sales Summary, click **Daily Sales Summary (DSS) (Classic)** page.** ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/5c9d1111-0c69-4e96-8910-d7f2750fdc9d/Images/Documentation/image-MVTGU12T.png) ****2)** Use the **search** and/or **sort** options in the Daily Sales Summaries page to focus on specific locations or dates.
