When column filtering is enabled, filters can be applied directly in the headers of [visible columns](/doc/docs/adjust-table-columns). Column filtering is not supported for all tables. ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/5c9d1111-0c69-4e96-8910-d7f2750fdc9d/Images/Documentation/image-T37FE4XJ.png) Applied column filters are visible and editable through [standard table level filters](/doc/docs/filtering-tables). Filter settings and column settings are [saved as table views](/doc/docs/manage-table-views). ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/5c9d1111-0c69-4e96-8910-d7f2750fdc9d/Images/Documentation/image-I4Z0CC84.png) --- ## Security All users are able to apply filters to tables that they have access to. --- ## Enable Column Filtering Follow these steps to turn on column filtering for a table: *Click steps to expand for additional information and images.* ****1)** Navigate to the **desired table**.** All tables with the new R365 table layout have a Menu button on the left side of the table controls. ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/5c9d1111-0c69-4e96-8910-d7f2750fdc9d/Images/Documentation/image-50GLP4W0.png) ****2)** Click the **Menu button.**** ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/5c9d1111-0c69-4e96-8910-d7f2750fdc9d/Images/Documentation/image-Y0FNXTP8.png) ****3)** Select **Column Filtering**.** ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/5c9d1111-0c69-4e96-8910-d7f2750fdc9d/Images/Documentation/image-G98RW9QA.png) --- ## Apply a Filter to a Column Follow these steps to apply a filter to a single column: *Click steps to expand for additional information and images.* ****1)** Navigate to the **desired table**.** All tables with the new R365 table layout have a Menu button on the left side of the table controls. ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/5c9d1111-0c69-4e96-8910-d7f2750fdc9d/Images/Documentation/image-50GLP4W0.png) ****2)** Confirm that **Column filtering** is enabled.** When column filtering is enabled, filter search bars are displayed at the top of each column. ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/5c9d1111-0c69-4e96-8910-d7f2750fdc9d/Images/Documentation/image-A06QY961.png) ****3)** Confirm that the **desired column** is shown on the table.** Columns can be shown or hidden using the [Columns controls](/doc/docs/adjust-table-columns) above the table. Yes. The column being filtered doesn't need to be visible for the filter to apply. Learn more about [adjusting table columns](/doc/docs/adjust-table-columns). #### My table looks empty after applying filters — is something broken? No. When applied filters return no results, the table shows a message instead of blank rows — that's expected behavior. Clear or adjust your filters to see results again. Learn more about [Working With Smart Grids](/doc/docs/working-with-smart-grids). #### How do I know if I'm using the old or new table filtering, and why does it matter? Check the Filter button's position in the table controls. On the left, you're using the new R365 table design covered in this article. On the right, follow the [Working With Smart Grids](/doc/docs/working-with-smart-grids) article for legacy tables instead. #### Do filters I apply in a column header show up anywhere else? Yes. Filters applied directly in a column header also appear in the table's Filter menu, where you can view or edit them. Learn more about [column filtering](/doc/docs/filter-a-table-with-column-filters).
