This is used to remove an incomplete or abandoned inventory count, such as in the event that two users create separate inventory counts that have been consolidated. In order to delete an inventory count, its status must be 'In Progress.' Completed counts can be unlocked to return the count to the 'In Progress' status. Approved counts need to be unapproved and unlocked before the count can be deleted. --- ## Security Users must have the following permission to delete an inventory count. - Food → Inventory Counts → Delete Inventory Counts The following permissions are also associated with deleting an inventory count. - Food → Inventory Counts → Unlock Inventory Counts - Food → Inventory Counts → Unapprove Inventory Counts These permissions can be added to [custom user roles](https://restaurant365.us.document360.io/doc/docs/custom-user-roles) or [individual users](https://restaurant365.us.document360.io/doc/docs/users-overview-and-security). The [Permission Access report](https://restaurant365.us.document360.io/doc/docs/generating-a-permissions-access-report) can be used to determine which user roles or users already have these permissions assigned. For more information, see [User Setup and Security](/doc/docs/user-setup-security-and-location-access). --- ## Delete an Inventory Count Follow these steps to delete an inventory count: *Click steps to expand for additional information and images.* ****1)** Navigate to the [**Inventory Counts**](/doc/docs/inventory-counts-overview-security) page, then click the desired **Inventory Count**.** ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/5c9d1111-0c69-4e96-8910-d7f2750fdc9d/Images/Documentation/image-9MF8MNWF.png) ****2)** Confirm that the Inventory Count’s status is **In Progress**.** ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/5c9d1111-0c69-4e96-8910-d7f2750fdc9d/Images/Documentation/image-CHSCO192.png) ****2a)** If the count is **Completed**, click **Unlock** to revert it to In Progress.** ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/5c9d1111-0c69-4e96-8910-d7f2750fdc9d/Images/Documentation/image-CU9FPLSO.png) > [!NOTE] > Users must have the following permission to unlock an inventory count: > > Food → Inventory Counts → Unlock Inventory Counts ****2b)** If the count is **Approved**, click **Unapprove** to revert it to Complete, then click Unlock to revert it to In Progress.** ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/5c9d1111-0c69-4e96-8910-d7f2750fdc9d/Images/Documentation/image-2FIU7S46.png) > [!NOTE] > Users must have the following permission to unapprove an inventory count. > > Food → Inventory Counts → Unapprove Inventory Counts ****3)** Click the **Menu button** in the header.** ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/5c9d1111-0c69-4e96-8910-d7f2750fdc9d/Images/Documentation/image-6SRZP93H.png) ****4)** Select **Delete.**** ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/5c9d1111-0c69-4e96-8910-d7f2750fdc9d/Images/Documentation/image-4834FKHN.png) ****5)** Confirm by clicking **Delete**.** ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/5c9d1111-0c69-4e96-8910-d7f2750fdc9d/Images/Documentation/image-XINRYII5.png)
