It organizes details into three sections: labor, deposits, and transactions, so records can be reviewed in context. The DSS serves as the central place to confirm daily performance, make corrections, and prepare data for approval. Any updates apply only in review and are cleared if the DSS is repolled. Completing and approving the DSS ensures accurate reporting and supports downstream processes such as payroll and financial reconciliation. --- ## **Navigation** ****Navigation Steps**** 1. Open the **Sales & Forecasting** application. 2. Expand **Daily Sales Summary**. 3. Select **Daily Sales Summary (DSS).** 4. Click a **Daily Sales entry** to open the daily sales summary. ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/5c9d1111-0c69-4e96-8910-d7f2750fdc9d/Images/Documentation/image-P7NIY5JJ.png) --- ## **Header** The DSS Header includes the available functions of the DSS record. Insight cards highlight trends and risks that may affect labor efficiency and profitability, showing where performance aligns with expectations and where further review may be helpful. AI insights require customer opt-in before they appear on the DSS. See [AI Labor Insights — Opt-In and Opt-Out](/doc/docs/dss-ai-labor-insights-opt-in) for setup steps. AI-Generated Content AI insights are generated using recent location data and may not reflect every variable. Use them as a starting point for review, not as a final recommendation. ### **Insight Cards** Each insight card analyzes a specific area of labor activity. Cards appear based on the data available for the selected business date. ****Deep-Dive Analysis**** Some insight cards include additional detail through deep-dive analysis. Deep-dive results appear within the insight card and provide a closer look at contributing factors. **Break Analysis** When the Overtime Risk or Actual vs. Scheduled insight identifies break-related patterns, the analysis includes: - Break violations that created a gap between scheduled and actual hours - Staffing no-shows that caused unplanned overtime or coverage changes - Patterns that may indicate recurring scheduling issues **Employee Deep-Dive** The employee-level analysis breaks down individual labor activity, including: - Hours worked across multiple roles for a single employee - Tip data correlated with labor efficiency and scheduling, showing where tip performance aligns with staffing decisions - Overtime risk at the employee level **Guest Count Analysis** Labor trend insights incorporate guest count data to provide context on staffing efficiency: - Labor hours compared to guest volume by day part - Periods where staffing levels did not match customer traffic - Impact of guest count trends on scheduled vs. actual labor ****What the Insights Show**** Each insight card may include: - **Trend summary** — A plain-language description of what the data shows for the selected business date - **Key contributing factors** — The data points driving the trend (for example, specific day parts, employees, or schedule gaps) - **Impact** — The operational or financial effect of the identified trend - **Suggested action** — A recommended next step based on the analysis Not every card includes all four elements. Content depends on the data available and the severity of the identified trend. Data Freshness AI insights use data from the DSS after it has been processed into the reporting layer. Insights are typically available within a few hours of the POS import completing. If insights are not yet available, check back later in the day. ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/5c9d1111-0c69-4e96-8910-d7f2750fdc9d/Images/Documentation/image-ER9966BI.png) | Insight | Description | | --- | --- | | Overtime Risk | Highlights when labor hours are trending toward the overtime thresholds defined in the location's [overtime rules](/doc/docs/admin-page-overtime-rules). When break violations or staffing no-shows contribute to overtime patterns, those factors are included in the analysis. | | Daily Labor Trend | Highlights how labor hours and costs align with sales activity and guest counts across day parts to reveal periods of over- or understaffing. Guest count data is factored into the analysis when available, showing how staffing levels compare to customer volume. **Daily Labor Trend Day Parts:** - Breakfast: 5:00 AM – 10:00 AM - Lunch: 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM - Off Peak: 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM - Dinner: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM - Late Night: 10:00 PM – 4:00 AM | | Actual vs. Scheduled Labor Impact | Highlights differences between [scheduled](/doc/docs/scheduling-module) and actual labor activity to reveal trends that impact overall labor spending. Includes break violation data and staffing no-show impact when available. | --- ## **Additional Notes Section** The Additional Notes section allows comments to be added to the Daily Sales Summary (DSS), files to be uploaded, and add events. Use this section to record any details that are relevant for the day. ![](https://cdn.us.document360.io/5c9d1111-0c69-4e96-8910-d7f2750fdc9d/Images/Documentation/image-A8ZHPMN2.png) | | **Field** | **Description** | | --- | --- | --- | | **1** | Comments | Provides a field to enter details about the location’s daily activity and assign a corresponding daypart. Once an entry is made, it will appear below this field where other users can view and [leave comments](/doc/docs/log-entries-entry-comments). | | **2** | Attachments | Provides a field to upload files associated with the Daily Sales Summary (DSS). | | **3** | Events | Opens a sidesheet to enter event information, including name, category, location, description, date, time, and attachments. | Access rights granted to users or user roles that dictate what actions they can perform within the system.
