The group labor matrix also supports bulk assignment for multiple jobs at once. Parent jobs group jobs from multiple locations under a shared label. Each parent job allows only one job per location. Location jobs can be [removed](/doc/docs/remove-assigned-location-jobs-from-a-parent-job) from a parent job on the Job Settings page or the associated job record. In Beta This feature is in beta for select customers. Contact your CSM for more information. --- ## Security Users must have the following permissions to assign location jobs to parent jobs: - Labor → Jobs → Edit Jobs These permissions can be added to [custom user roles](https://restaurant365.us.document360.io/doc/docs/custom-user-roles) or [individual users](https://restaurant365.us.document360.io/doc/docs/users-overview-and-security). The [Permission Access report](https://restaurant365.us.document360.io/doc/docs/generating-a-permissions-access-report) can be used to determine which user roles or users already have these permissions assigned. If a parent job is already mapped to a location job while you're assigning another, the system shows an error state and a toast message reading "A parent job has already been defined for [Job Name]." The parent job list refreshes to reflect the current mappings, and you'll need to choose a different, unmapped parent job for the second location job. #### Why is the parent job I need missing from the Parent Job drop-down? The drop-down only lists parent jobs that don't already have a job assigned from the same location as the job being edited, so an existing parent job can disappear from the list once it's filled for that location. If the needed parent job doesn't exist yet, click Add Parent Job to create one inline, or click Edit Parent Jobs to manage parent jobs from the Job Settings page. Learn more about [creating a parent job](https://docs.restaurant365.com/docs/create-a-parent-job). #### What happens if a group labor matrix version's effective date has already passed? A version whose effective date has already passed cannot receive new parent job assignments. A new version must be added to the group labor matrix before proceeding with the assignment. Learn more about [labor matrix versioning](https://docs.restaurant365.com/docs/labor-matrix-versioning). #### Can multiple jobs from the same location be included in one bulk assignment? No. Only one job per location can be selected at a time for a bulk assignment — selecting a job from a location prevents selecting any other job from that same location in the same bulk action. To assign a second job from that location, run a separate bulk assignment or assign it individually from its job record. Learn more about [parent jobs](https://docs.restaurant365.com/docs/manage-parent-jobs). #### What happens if a user doesn't have the required permission to assign location jobs to parent jobs? Assigning location jobs to parent jobs requires the Labor → Jobs → Edit Jobs permission. A user without this permission cannot complete the assignment; an admin must grant the permission through a custom user role or directly on the individual user. ## Related - [Bank Reconciliation](/bank-reconciliation.md) - [Accounting FAQ](/accounting-faq.md)
