Templates determine which recipes a location can prep. Multiple templates can be selected when a prep sheet is created, to cover a broader set of recipes. The prep template wizard walks through three steps to configure and save a new template. The steps include the following: - General Info - Add Recipes - Review Template Read more about [creating and managing prep templates](/doc/docs/create-and-manage-prep-templates). --- ## Security Users must have the following permissions to manage prep templates: - Prep Settings → Prep Templates → - View Prep Templates - Edit Prep Templates - Create Prep Templates - Delete Prep Templates --- ## Navigation Prep templates are managed from the Prep Settings screen. ****Navigation Steps**** 1. Open the **Inventory** application. 2. Expand **Prep**. 3. Select **Prep Sheets**. 4. Click the **gear** button. 5. This field is required and must be unique. | | **2** | Location(s) | The location(s) associated with the prep template. Locations selected here filter the recipes available to add to the template based on recipe-level location access. This field is required. > This prep template is only available for use at the locations assigned here. | | **3** | Description | An optional description that helps identify the group of recipes that will be added to the template. | | **4** | Continue | Advances the wizard to the **Add Recipes** step. All required fields must be completed for the **Continue** button to be available. | --- ### Add Recipes The **Add Recipes** step is where recipes are selected and added to the prep template. Recipes are filtered based on the locations selected in the **General Info** step. Each row shows the recipe name, prep station, prep category, and unit of measure information. | | **4** | Continue | Advances the wizard to the **Review Template** step. Enabled after at least one recipe is added. | | **5** | Selection Checkbox | Selects the recipe to add to the prep template. | | **6** | Add [#] Recipes | Adds the selected recipes to the prep template and closes the panel. The button label updates to reflect the number of recipes currently selected. | --- ### Review Template The **Review Template** step displays a summary of the prep template before it is saved. The selected prep recipes and their details are listed in the table, and the **Template Overview** panel on the right summarizes the general info and recipe count. When this prep template is used to create a prep sheet, the prep recipes listed will appear on prep sheets for the assigned locations. > Prep recipes respect location-level access. Users see only the prep recipes their assigned locations can access. | | **2** | Template Overview | The overview of the prep template information including the following: - Template name - Assigned locations - Number of prep recipes added Clicking the pencil button navigates to the associated step for edits. | | **3** | Previous | Returns to the previous step in the wizard. | | **4** | Visible to stores | A toggle that controls whether the prep template is visible to store-level users. When enabled, the template is accessible to the locations assigned to it. > This can be turned on or off at any time using the **Available for Use toggle** from the [Prep Templates tab of the Prep Settings.](/doc/docs/prep-settings-page#prep-templates-tab) | | **5** | Save | Saves the prep template and closes the wizard. |
