Use the Add rate button on the Workers' Compensation page to create a new workers' compensation rate for a state and class code. The button is available only to users with edit access to Workers' Compensation, and stays disabled until you select a company. The rate form opens in three sections: Class details, Rate values, and Effective period.
Workers’ Compensation Sections
Class details
State and class code are editable when you first create a rate. Once the rate exists, both fields lock to read-only text — only the description remains editable at any time. A state and class code combination can't be duplicated across rates.
State also determines the classification system used for the rate, and changes the class code field's label and how the rate is measured:

Rate values
Employer rate is required, and must be greater than zero for Washington and Wyoming rates. Employee rate appears — and is required — only for Washington rates.
Important Note About Changing a Rate's State
Once a workers' compensation code is assigned to a job title, its State field can no longer be changed. Reassign the job title to a different code instead of trying to change the state of an in-use code.
Effective period
Effective date is required. Expiration date is optional, though it can become required or restricted to prevent a coverage gap when a future-dated rate already exists for the same class.
Configure Workers’ Compensation
Add a new rate version
To change a rate's amount for an upcoming period rather than editing it in place, open the existing class and select Add version. Only one future-dated version is allowed per class at a time — starting a second future version updates the existing one instead of creating a new record.
View rate history
Select Version history from the rate form to open a side panel listing every version of the selected class, with a read-only view of each one.
